AROOSTOOK COUNTY, Maine (WAGM) – The Wisdom girl’s soccer team is once again one of the favorites in Class D. The Pioneers were off to an undefeated start on the season and are ranked number one in Class D. The Central Aroostook Panthers were off to a 5-2 start on the year and they are currently in second place. The teams met for the second time. Wisdom won the season opener for both teams by a score of 4-2. The Pioneers were in control of the offense and got some shots on goal early in the first half. Panthers goalie Charlie Pierce saved every shot that came her way early in this game. The Panthers hand the Pioneers their first loss of the year. The final score was 3-1. The boys teams was also playing. Their first meeting was a 3-2 Panther win. A windy game in St Agatha, this was a very close match with both teams going back and forth. Ultimately, Wisdom took control of the game and won 5-1. Camden Pelletier scored all five. Wisdom takes on the Maine School of Science and Mathematics on Wednesday. The Panthers play Easton on Friday.

The Presque Isle Wildcats golf team was back on the home course today taking on the Hermon Hawks. The Wildcats looking for their second straight home win. The Hawks will be making two trips to Presque Isle in two and a half weeks. This one was unsuccessful the Wildcats won 167-195. Nick Lavigne and Ryan Blackstone had their two lowest scores with a 41. Logan Caron had their second lowest score with a 42.

Hodgdon had boy’s and girl’s soccer matches this afternoon. The boys and girls won big. The boys won 8-0. They were led by Michael Fitzpatrick and Hunter Duttweiler with three each. Jacob Tuttle and Kody Richardson each had one. Then, the Lady Hawks won 9-1. Behind only two goal scorers, Ava Ezell had five and Gracie Little scored four.

The MSSM girls also had a game. There’s was at Southern Aroostook High School. A much closer game, the Warriors won that one 4-2. Then Piscataquis had a big win over Southern Aroostook 9-1.

Finally, two golf matches. We covered Presque Isle’s score. Penobscot Valley played Houlton, Houlton won it handedly 159-235. Brody Libby and Patrick Marino tie at 39 for the Shires lowest score.
