1 injured in shooting near Brookhaven shopping center, police say

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Brookhaven police said a person was shot near a busy Brookhaven shopping center late Sunday afternoon.

Police said they responded around 5:30 p.m. to a shooting reported in the area of Johnson Ferry Road and Ashford Dunwoody Road, where the shopping center is located.

They said responding officers found a person believed to have been involved in the shooting, and learned that a gunshot victim had already been taken to an area hospital.

“Officers located one of the parties” in the area “and the other party had already been transported to an area hospital due to an apparent gunshot wound,” a Brookhaven police spokesperson said in a statement.

The shot person’s condition appears to be “critical but stable,” the spokesperson said.

The investigation is in its early stages and details are limited at this time.
