10 best jobs for aspiring digital nomads

While fully remote jobs are becoming increasingly rare, job seekers are still looking for opportunities that offer flexibility — and even broaden their cultural horizons.

The World Economic Forum estimates that by 2030, the number of global jobs that can be performed from anywhere will increase by 25%, with tech and content creation leading the way. This means aspiring digital nomads still have a shot at their dream job, but they must know which roles to look for and what skills to cultivate.

“A lot of people will think, ‘Oh, I see a remote job. That means I can automatically work from anywhere,'” says Keith Spencer, career expert at remote job search site Flexjobs. “But that’s not the case for the vast majority of remote jobs. A lot of them have location requirements.”

Spencer adds that beyond ensuring the role spells out that candidates can work from anywhere, job seekers should also be prepared to hone their communication, time management and tech skills. Workers will have to be able to handle the challenges that come with juggling time zones as well as have the ability to troubleshoot tech issues they come across without guaranteed company IT support, he explains. Hopeful job seekers will also need to consider what hard skills they need to secure a remote role, be it graphic design, SEO management or editorial prowess.

For anyone who wants to get started searching for a digital nomad-friendly position, Flexjobs put together a list of the best jobs for complete flexibility.
