13 Things Beverly Nguyen Would Buy Again
When we were discussing cool women we wanted to interview for this column, one name kept coming up: Beverly Nguyen. The stylist, editor, and founder of Beverly’s—a pop-up home shop on the Lower East Side—has built a fashionable circle of colleagues and friends who are drawn to her feel-good energy and exceptional taste, which she honed through years working closely under fellow stylist Kate Young. Nguyen might be constantly navigating flights, meetings, and shoots, but she genuinely seems to be having fun, a quality that’s all too rare these days.
Lately, Nguyen has been finding style inspiration from old family mementos. “I’ve been looking at old photo books of my parents at their wedding in the late ’80s and how they dressed, paying particular attention to the men’s suiting and trousers,” she says. The time spent down memory lane has translated into looks that are leisurely yet still have a distinctively put-together feel to them, like a slim-cut t-shirt paired with a breezy linen pant and thonged sandal.
While some stylists might be hesitant to share their secrets for creating a summer uniform, Nguyen is open with her approach—which turns out to be appealingly uncomplicated. “I’ve been leaning into being sporty, wearing technical fabrics, nylon, and oversized cotton poplin pieces,” she tells Bazaar. “I haven’t been able to take off these white cotton Matteau pants. They have a relaxed fit, but look pulled together when paired with almost anything.”
Since she makes a living from helping people—and their homes—realize their style potential, Nguyen is an expert at sifting through the onslaught of product to find the really good stuff. Below, she shares 13 things she loves so much she’d buy them again.
1.
“The Wexford pocket waistcoat is one of the most comfortable and adaptable silhouettes I’ve ever owned. I have it in grey and it goes well with stretchy workout attire, trousers, over slinky dresses—even just with a bikini for sunsets at the beach. Both colors are stunning, and the weight is soft against the skin but doesn’t overheat you because it’s sleeveless!”
2.
“Rosie Assoulin cuts a fabulous dress. The silhouette and the fabrics make you feel cool and pulled together instantly. I need that these days. I can’t get enough of this dress.”
3.
“I love the Kallmeyer Clemence Pant. They look great worn with kitten-heel sandals, a button-down, and statement jewelry, but I also pair them with loafers and a tucked-in, oversized T-shirt.”
4.
“My mom and I both wear this ring, so when I look down, it reminds me of her. I love carrying that sentiment with me everyday. “
5.
“Proenza accessories always make me feel sophisticated and sexy. I love these strappy heels with the gold hardware. I think they capture my personal style and give a little bit extra so I can keep everything else simple up top.”
6.
“Charvet slippers are something I’ve collected over the years. They are the answer to comfort and ease.”
7.
“I love the Margaux bag in every size and color. It’s supportive and the length hits just right with all of my outfits.”
8.
“It’s been this Toteme T-lock bag almost every night since I got her! I love that I can wear it as a clutch, holding it like I did with my binder in middle school, or attach the thin strap for over the shoulder. It’s so lightweight and great for all occasions, formal or casual.”
9.
“This has become the most important product in my daily life—it’s moisturizing, smooth, and the application is luxe.”
10.
“I recently started switching my moisturizer to a lighter serum in the summer—I know, very late to the game—but I’ve seen a significant change in the texture of my facial skin. This Tara Harper serum is lightweight and leaves my skin so smooth.”
11.
“This sunscreen is life-changing and great for those of us who hate applying. It’s creamy, doesn’t smell, and has the most overall UV skin coverage.”
12.
“I love making one-pot meals all year round. This color is refreshing and makes any dish beautiful.”
13.
“When I love something, I always buy multiples, but something I have purchased over and over for the last six or seven years is this Eres bikini in white. I love knowing I have a bikini that works for me year after year. It practically lives in my suitcase.”
