15 Celebrities With Iconic Maternity Fashion – Women
It can be tough to know how to dress when pregnant — especially when you have a reputation as a fashionista. Just ask Jessica Simpson. “It’s really challenging to find adorable stuff. And fashionable stuff, and stuff that doesn’t make you look like a house,” the star, a mother of three, told E! News in 2012. Still, there are several celebs (Simpson included) who look just as stylish with a baby on board as they do when they’re not expecting. In fact, some even became more fashion-forward when they began their motherhood journey.

Celebrities have shown us that being pregnant doesn’t have to mean hiding away and burying a growing middle in yards of fabric (though that’s totally fine if it makes you feel comfortable, of course). These gorgeous moms have given us major inspo with their iconic maternity fashion by embracing their changing bodies on the streets, social media, and red carpets, whether they’re dressing up, down, or something in between.
Rihanna’s maternity style was iconically bump baring
During Rihanna’s first pregnancy in 2022, she awed us every time showed off her baby bump. For Paris Fashion Week, the mom-to-be wore a sheer dress with a built-in lace bra, paired with barely there black undies and knee-high pointed toe boots. The garment may not work for every expectant mom, but Rihanna’s confidence and the way she embraced her changing body was totally inspiring.

Even Rihanna’s casual maternity ensembles are bumpin’. During her second pregnancy in 2023, Rihanna was seen in a collared red, white, and blue crop top and comfy, loose blue jeans (a major trend) that sat just below her middle for a cute, understated aesthetic. Whether she’s attending the Met Gala or baring her baby bump at the Super Bowl halftime show, Rihanna always brings it when it comes to maternity fashion. Her baby-on-board style influenced not only us, but Hailey Bieber too. “She was the most gorgeous, hottest pregnant woman I’ve ever seen,” Bieber told W Magazine in 2022.
Hailey Bieber’s maternity style mixed the bump-baring aesthetic with hot trends
Hailey Bieber is the ultimate trendsetter, so it’s little surprise she had the world fawning over her maternity style. The star was clearly inspired by Rihanna, as Bieber mixed belly-baring style with her own penchant for youthful trends. In a May 2024 Instagram upload, Bieber wore a girlie, glitzy, and trendy pink butterfly top with blue jeans that fans in the comments loved.

“This is the most beautiful thing I’ve seen in a while,” one comment read. One month later, Bieber proudly framed her middle again in a figure-hugging, lined lace bodysuit. She added an oversized leather-look jacket with matching pointed-toe heels — another major trend – while out in New York City for an uber-modern take on maternity dressing that will go down in fashion history.
Blake Lively stayed true to her glam style
Blake Lively’s style transformation has been as sight to behold — and that includes her fierce pregnancy looks. Lively strutted her way through four pregnancies in her signature glam style. “It’s important to still feel like yourself, because so much of your life is changing,” Lively told People in 2015. “I would’ve felt foreign in my own body if I’d started dressing differently.”

Though high heels aren’t for everyone (and that’s totally fine) Lively repeatedly embraced designer shoes while pregnant. “When I put on Louboutins while super pregnant, it makes me feel more empowered in that moment, it gives me that extra oomph,” she said. Lively had countless stand out looks while expecting, but our favorites include the plunging, light yellow Gucci dress she wore to the 2014 Angel Ball and her stunning blue Atelier Versace gown for the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.
Ciara kept glamour alive with multiple fittings during her pregnancies
In 2020, Ciara wowed at the Vanity Fair Oscar party in a sheer Ralph & Russo gown featuring a strapless bodysuit that hugged her stomach. It also had sparkly fabric that was perfectly draped for a glamorous and flattering silhouette. The “Level Up” hitmaker’s hot maternity fashion started years before that, though.

In 2014, during Ciara’s first pregnancy, she hit the Grammys red carpet in a beaded Emilio Pucci dress that complimented her bump and skin tone. A major fashionista, Ciara paid extra attention to alterations to ensure the long-sleeved gown fit correctly. “Three to four fittings were mandatory,” she told E! News on the red carpet (via People), which is a great tip for expectant moms attending dressy events.
Meghan Markle did casual and dressy effortlessly
The Duchess of Sussex wore some stunning pieces during her two pregnancies, wowing in gorgeous, classy outfits perfect for a (former) royal. “Meghan [Markle] always looks perfectly polished, and her maternity style is no different. She’s made every outfit appear effortless and chic while staying true to herself,” Ariane Goldman, founder of the maternity label Hatch, told Hello!.

Markle’s sense of style was never more evident than when she went casual in a black top, black jeans, and navy blazer in Morocco in 2019. The ensemble was understated but still chic thanks to its clean lines and dark colors. That same year, Meghan showed us she also knew how to dress up while pregnant, making a case for beige in an easy monochrome outfit. She wore an elegant satin dress with a matching structured jacket and strappy heels while out in London.
Margot Robbie went for muted colors during her pregnancy
In July 2024, pregnant “Barbie” beauty Margot Robbie kept things light and comfortable (but still stylish) at the Wimbledon tennis tournament in London. She wore a flowy white dress with black polka dots that showed her bump and fit her feminine, clean aesthetic. The dress featured extra material that draped around her neck, adding a fun flare to what otherwise would have been a very simple outfit.

The following September, Robbie displayed her bump on the red carpet in a curve-hugging, off-the-shoulder grey maxi dress that was sophisticated and mature. Robbie’s outfits were more toned down than her pre-pregnancy red carpet style, which showed us there’s nothing wrong with adapting your wardrobe to your changing body to feel more comfortable.
Kim Kardashian put a sexy spin on maternity wear
In a 2013 post on her now-defunct blog, Kim Kardashian explained that she found it tough to style outfits during her first trimester expecting daughter North West. “I struggle finding things that don’t make me look heavy. Some days my baby bump really shows, and some days it doesn’t,” she wrote (via The Source). “At this stage I guess I’m more focused on concealing the weight gain than I am about dressing the bump, just because it hasn’t popped yet,” she added.

Once that bump did pop, though, her pregnancy style didn’t stray far from her signature sexy, bold style. Kardashian got people talking in a racy lace bodysuit for the LACMA Art + Film Gala in 2015, then showed another side of herself in an ethereal white maxi dress with a cape for the InStyle awards that same year.
Kylie Jenner’s maternity wardrobe mixed youth and sophistication
Kim Kardashian isn’t the only member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan who nailed her maternity looks: Her half-sister Kylie Jenner had some iconic moments, too. Jenner kept her first pregnancy under wraps, but showed off more than enough stunning wardrobe choices during her second pregnancy to please fans.

For New York Fashion Week in September 2021, Jenner channelled her older sister in a black bodysuit, but her version had extra material around the hips and she added a long, black coat. Clearly happy to show off her changing body, Jenner was also spotted that month in a short, youthful white dress with a matching jacket and clear heels. Jenner’s baby wardrobe marked a significant moment in her style transformation, as she embraced more grown-up looks while still staying true to her fun and daring aesthetic.
Sofia Richie Grainge shunned maternity clothes and stunned in oversized silhouettes
Sofia Richie Grainge pulled off quite the feat during her pregnancy, shunning maternity clothing for oversized, neutral pieces with loose silhouettes. “I’m … not buying an entirely new wardrobe for this pregnancy. I’ve bought a few pairs of pants in bigger sizes, but I’m wearing my same jackets, sweats and trenches,” she told Vogue in January 2024.

Richie Grainge didn’t hide her bump, but proved maternity dressing doesn’t always have to involve highlighting pregnancy in an obvious way. The influencer wore a structured, off-the-shoulder black top and pants for the Warner Music Group Pre-Grammy Party in February 2024, serving up a classy and sophisticated aesthetic. Later that month, while promoting her SkinCeuticals line, she wowed in a black dress and white edge-to-edge coat that was comfy, clean, and chic.
Eva Longoria adapted her existing wardrobe into relatable pregnancy looks
Eva Longoria is another star who didn’t overhaul her wardrobe with maternity clothes while expecting. “I’m resistant to buying maternity wear just because I’ve been wearing my stuff,” the former “Desperate Housewives” actor told People in 2018. She couldn’t quite hold out all nine months, though, eventually buying some maternity pieces when her pre-baby clothing grew too uncomfortable. “I … bought some pregnancy leggings and mostly bottoms because it’s just impossible now to wear my old clothes,” she added.

Still, Longoria didn’t turn her back on classic, polished looks. In April 2018, she looked comfortable and relatable in a grey and white striped jersey dress with silver sandals in Los Angeles. She changed things up later that month for her Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony, wearing a lined lace dress that skimmed her growing middle.
Kate Middleton’s royal maternity looks were cleverly thought out
Kate Middleton repeatedly showed us how sophisticated dressing a baby bump can be, wearing demure yet fashionable pieces during her three pregnancies. She wore a black-and-white leopard print shift dress to an art gallery in 2015 and, three years later, had everyone talking in a green off-the-shoulder Jenny Packham gown on the BAFTAs red carpet.

Middleton wore several different prints while expecting, which Rosie Pope, founder of Rosie Pope Maternity and Rosie Pope Baby, explained was likely intentional. “If you get the right one it can distract from your growing bump and this is exactly what [Catherine, Princess of Wales] often needs to do so that the attention is on the cause at hand,” she told ABC News.
Ashley Graham got more confident with her wardrobe while expecting
While a lot of pregnant people steer clear of new styles and cuts while expecting, Ashley Graham didn’t. After all, why should she? Graham’s stylist Jordan Foster told Vogue in 2019, “The only difference [in the last few months] would be that Ashley has been more open to trying styles she might not have before and has discovered that she likes them.”

Graham wore a two-toned, ribbed bodycon dress to the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards in 2019, an outfit which seriously highlighted her bump. That same year, she changed up her style and went a little sexier for the Harper’s Bazaar ICONS Party. Graham wore a contemporary black halter-neck bodysuit with a lace skirt over her legs and a feathered bottom, for a seriously confident and fashion-forward aesthetic we can’t get enough of.
Chrissy Teigen embraced her bump in a fashion-forward way
Chrissy Teigen turned to Kim Kardashian for maternity style advice, according to InStyle Australia. Teigen told the outlet in February 2016 that Kardashian urged her to opt for stretchy garments during her first pregnancy, but Teigen didn’t want to hide away. “I always wanted to be the person who showed off the bump because it looks beautiful and I think you should embrace it,” she said.

And Teigen did. The model wowed in a figure-hugging, plunging red gown with a cape at The Weinstein Company’s Pre-Oscar Dinner in February 2016. She continued to embrace maternity fashion on the red carpet for the “Neal Brennan 3 Mics” opening night a month later. She wore a black dress with a stylish crochet overlay, a comfortable way to make a classic LBD more interesting.
Vanessa Hudgens mixed daring maternity style with boho chic
Vanessa Hudgens has quite the reputation for her transition from bohemian babe to chic style icon — and her pregnancy saw her blend a few styles. The former “High School Musical” star flaunted her middle in a stunning, see-through black dress for the Vanity Fair Oscar party in March 2024. Not only did the dress demonstrate her enviable confidence, but she was totally on trend for the sheer dress movement.

Even designer Vera Wang couldn’t get enough. She commented on Hudgens’ Instagram photo, “Soooooo radiant !!!!!!” A fan also wrote, “You look gorgeous ma’am. you’re glowing.” But the actor and singer didn’t stray too far from her boho niche. That same month, she was photographed in a floral dress that had frills over her bump for a flattering and feminine silhouette.
Beyoncé wowed in embellished dresses
How could we talk about iconic maternity fashion without mentioning Beyoncé? The superstar told Vibe in 2011 that she loved dressing her bump when she was expecting daughter Blue Ivy. “I am having so much fun, it has been the most fun time now that it has been announced and I don’t have to [hide]. It was really difficult to conceal, but now that I can be proud and excited about it I’m having so much fun shopping — it’s great,” she said.

Six years later, during her second pregnancy, Beyoncé had the whole world talking when she wore a bump-hugging, heavily embellished gold dress with sheer panels for the 2017 Grammys. She also proved that night why pregnant people shouldn’t be afraid of sequins when she sizzled in a red gown that had all eyes on her in all the right ways.
