2 more South Alabama football assistant coaches leaving for other jobs

South Alabama now has three openings for assistant coaches on its football staff, after running backs coach Effrem Reed and defensive line coach Jonathan Bradley recently left for other jobs.

Multiple sources told AL.com that Reed is headed to Wake Forest, where he will re-join former Jaguars offensive coordinator Rob Ezell. New Demon Deacons head coach Jake Dickert also hired Ezell away from South Alabama this week.

A source also told AL.com that Bradley is headed to Kennesaw State to join new head coach Jerry Mack, who was South Alabama’s wide receivers coach in 2012-13. The two were teammates at Arkansas State in the early 2000s and previously worked together when Mack was head coach at North Carolina Central from 2014-17.

South Alabama went 7-6 in 2024 under first-year head coach Major Applewhite, the Jaguars’ third straight winning season.
