20+ Part-Time Remote Jobs For Freelancers In 2024

Generative AI has proven to be a significant influencing factor in the labor market; and perhaps nowhere is this impact more pronounced than within the side hustle or gig economy.

Per a recent Morgan Stanley report, AI (artificial intelligence) is a major contributing factor to a booming $1.4 trillion side hustle industry (according to the most optimistic projections), with an estimated $300 billion of that figure coming from AI alone.

AI enables side hustlers and freelance professionals to reduce the time it takes to perform the admin, back-office type of work that is commonly associated with business, freeing up mental space, energy and time in favor of more worthy pursuits—doing the creative work they set out to achieve for their clients in the first place.

This makes freelancing all the more attractive as a career-building and money-making endeavor, and enables many would-be freelancers to pursue their work on a part-time basis, due to much of the marketing and admin work being decreased because of AI technology.

In light of the current widespread enthusiasm surrounding flexible working, a recent Indeed report revealed the state of affairs with part-time job listings, and noted that the share of part-time job postings is steadily on the rise, slowly climbing from 2022, reaching its peak in late 2022 before plummeting slightly, and now returning back to higher figures in 2024.

Most notably, full-time job postings have remained relatively flat with little growth year-on-year, while part-time job listings have increased. This is interesting to note, particularly because we are also observing that side hustles and gig work are on the incline as well. This simultaneous upward movement of part-time jobs and side hustles or freelancing, is most obvious within these five industries, according to the report:

  1. Beauty and wellness (67.2% share of part-time job postings)
  2. Personal care and home health (54.2% share of part-time job postings)
  3. Retail (47.5% share of part-time job postings)
  4. Food preparation and service (46.7% share of part-time job postings)
  5. Sports (46.2% share of part-time job postings)

20 Part-Time Remote Jobs In 2024

Now that you have a list of the top five industries which have the greatest share of part-time jobs as of 2024, here is a list of potential money-making remote job opportunities that you might not have considered yet, within each of the above categories, for you to pursue as a part-time freelancer. However, you can still make good money from these part-time remote freelance jobs even if you are working on them for a few evenings or on the weekends.

These freelancing or side hustle jobs can also be performed remotely, meaning you can execute them from the comfort of your home, whether that be on your laptop or your physical home space (or a combination of both).
