2024 Black Business Expo

MONROE, La. (KNOE) – Black Business Owners United hosted the 2024 Black Business Expo on Friday (May 17) at the Monroe Civic Center. 100 vendors attended in hopes of being able to network and promote their businesses.

The expo began 5 years ago with an awards show for various categories and has flourished ever since.

“We can promote our businesses and so what better way to host an expo to where all different types of businesses and organizations can get together unified, support each other, celebrate one another, and purchase,” said the creator of Black Business Owners United, Kenya Roberson.

“I feel like I’m in my element, I feel like the chance to network with other small businesses. I can exchange things, whatever they’re selling and I can possibly bring it to the shop and I can sell it in the shop. We can all feed off of each other and that’s the best thing,” said the owner of Virtuouz Hair Mobile LLC, Shon Downs.

Networking is exactly what business owners like Crystal Puckett of Uneke Techniques plan to do to expand her salon.

“I wanted to come out so could network with other people to grow my business to a bigger scale and also to not only reach customers but potentially more employees because I will be expanding my salon next month,” said Puckett.

The Black Business Owners United Gala will be held on Saturday, May 18.
