The CGI Rochester International Jazz Festival kicks off on Friday in downtown Rochester.

There is plenty of time to catch the music. Live performances take place daily through June 29.

Sergio Cruel checked in with festival producer Marc Iacona and the All In Brass Band to get a preview of the event.

“[People] can expect to see the same consistency of all the club pass venues that we have in the programming, in the timing and the great music improvised music that’s there. New and established artist and then we’ll have the free element as we always do thanks to the support that we get from city government and our major sponsors,” said Iacona. “So it’s Jazz Street, which is on Gibbs Street, then we have tomorrow on East Chestnut, two free concerts, and then starting on Wednesday, Parcel 5 all the way through the rest of the festival.”

“There’s 32 different scholastic groups throughout the course of the week. Everything at the Eastman Theatre is going to be dynamite,” said Tom Allen, director of the All In Brass Band. “There’s great free stuff just about every day and all the different club pass venues are gonna be rockin’ with some of the best musicians in the world.”
