2024 MLB World Series, MVP odds: Bettors showing Francisco Lindor and Mets love
The New York Mets aren’t just the hottest team in baseball — they’re also the apple of the eye of the sports betting community as fans begin to take notice of their wild hot streak.
The Mets have produced MLB-best 33-18 record since June 1, when they sat around 220/1 to win the World Series.
Behind that surge, their odds have climbed down significantly to 55/1 at DraftKings.
A DraftKings spokesperson told The Post that the Mets received the second-most money in all of baseball in these three markets since the All-Star break: World Series, National League and National League East.
The spokesperson speculated that this betting craze is fueled by the popularity of Francisco Lindor, who has received massive amounts of attention to win the NL MVP, having become the most bet-on player to win the award since the All-Star break began July 15.
Lindor has been bet down from 65/1 to win NL MVP on July 1 to +900 at the time of writing, the third-best odds, as he attempts to grapple away control of the award from Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani (-800).
With Lindor leading the way, the Mets are now just one half-game out of the playoff picture entering Thursday’s action.
The Mets were once 110/1 to win the National League, a spot that the Diamondbacks found themselves last year before their World Series berth.
New York is down to 25/1, the seventh-best odds in the NL, as surely what is a hefty liability has been built up by bettors flooding in to bet on the Mets.
Those 25/1 odds also represent the Mets’ NL East odds, giving them a punch chance after they sliced what had been a 17.5-game division deficit to the Phillies to a manageable eight games.
The Mets had been 250/1 to win the division on June 1.
They will make their playoff push after several trade deadline moves that may not have been sexy, but filled several holes while maintaining their young talent to keep their flexibility open in the future.
