TE Notes: Trey McBride is only the third tight end this decade to catch at least seven passes in three straight games. He’s apparently never going to score, but the Patriots make spiked weeks happen. … George Kittle reminded in Week 14 that no other current tight end can match his ceiling. The Rams are not a concerning matchup, while the 49ers’ ground-game injuries figure to enhance Kittle’s ever-troublesome targets floor. … Brock Bowers has handled everything his awful offense has thrown at him, but Desmond Ridder would be a challenge of a different magnitude. The Raiders seem to be holding out hope Aidan O’Connell will start, but fantasy managers need to count on seeing Ridder out there. That endangers Bowers’ floor, but it’s not like you can bench him. … The Dolphins forgot about Jonnu Smith until it mattered most in Week 14, where he then promptly won them the game. Smith’s absurd Weeks 11-13 run was never going to last forever, but Week 14 is probably more of a blip than new trend in this short-passing attack.
David Njoku has only 94 yards to show for 30 targets over the past two weeks. Still, 30 targets. He’s also scored three times in that span. With Jameis Winston’s volume not going anywhere, Njoku is one of the fantasy quarters’ safer tight ends. … Sam LaPorta has been as frustrating as it gets this season, though his targets floor has been more in the 6-7 range of late than the 4-5 it was earlier in the season. His two highest yardage totals have come in the past three weeks, while the bookmakers are giving the Lions the highest implied team total of the week in the highest totaled game of the year. … Like Sam LaPorta, Mark Andrews has dramatically increased his targets floor of late. Also like LaPorta, he’s in a mouthwatering Week 15 game environment against a Giants defense that has no means of stopping the Ravens. … Mac Jones seems to have become sentient, realizing he can also throw to Brian Thomas Jr. in addition to Evan Engram. Concerning, though Engram’s targets floor remains safely in the mid-range TE1 zone.
Tucker Kraft’s 12 looks over the past two weeks are his second most in a two-game span this season. He also continues to score, Both those facts could be imperiled if Romeo Doubs returns from his concussion. … Pat Freiermuth commanded only three Week 14 targets, but 5-6 feels much more likely against the Eagles if George Pickens (hamstring) misses another game. … Jake Ferguson didn’t have any Luke Schoonmaker issues in Week 14. The Panthers allow the most tight end fantasy points. … There’s an argument to be made Juwan Johnson is now the Saints’ No. 1 pass catcher. It’s just hard to say what that amounts to in a ruined offense with the league’s second lowest implied team total. … Kyle Pitts’ floor is gone. Ceiling feels impossible to come by with Kirk Cousins’ decline accelerating instead of slowing. … Noah Gray is a font of cheap touchdowns. Grant Calcaterra could be a wellspring of cheap targets. Stone Smartt is, uhh, cheap.
