2nd Annual Back-to-School Bash held at Discovery World
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – Discovery World on Market hosted a Back-to-School Bash Saturday afternoon for kids to have fun while getting them excited about coming back to school.
During this event, children and their families enjoyed a day of fun activities celebrating the back-to-school season.
Volunteers from 13 volunteer community organizations were set up as vendors giving away different types of back-to-school supplies as well as providing different activities for kids to participate in to get them excited about going back to school.
Some of these activities included making friendship bracelets, carnival games, and art activities.
The event also featured a bouncy house alongside button making, and 3-d pen crafts in the maker space where kids could make their own 3-d works of art.
There was even a raffle where kids could win various prizes throughout the day.
According to Executive Director of Discovery World on Market, Wendy Shriver, the prizes for the raffle were donated by the vendors at the event.
“…the raffle actually is for all the kids who come to the event. They can sign up for free to win. The vendors donated different raffle items for the kids to win, so throughout the day we’ve been drawing names and giving the kids different prizes from the raffle table.”
The parents weren’t left out of the celebration either as Tom’s Coffee Truck was pareked out back as one of the many types of concessions available at the event.
“Tom’s coffee truck parked out back for the parents, so if they’d like to grab a little beverage and then our cafe we sell, grab and go items in our cafe, and we have the only cold snap ice cream maker in the state, so if folks want to come in and get some ice cream while they’re here, they’re welcome to do so.”
Shriver says that Discovery World wants to thank West Virginia Central Federal Credit Union, the title sponsor of this event, for supporting Discovery World on Market.
