3 Data Entry Remote Jobs That Pay Up To 0,000+ In 2024

If you’re looking for a relatively low-stress job with minimal people exposure or customer-facing work, you will certainly find the idea of remote data entry jobs very appealing.

Not only are data entry jobs attractive because they require less brain-intensive work and people interaction than other white-collar roles, but some data entry jobs can pay exceptionally well too—paying more than the median U.S. income of $59,000.

They can easily be performed remotely, and you can even undertake them as part-time remote jobs, or on a freelance basis where you can choose and set your own hours, projects, and clients.

While the concept of data entry as we have known it is on the decline thanks to AI and the automation of administrative tasks and roles (including that of virtual assistants and administrative clerks) there are other types of data entry jobs that are in demand and require data entry skills.

These roles are not your typical entering-information-into-a-computer work, however they are very similar in nature and some tasks can be quite repetitive. You won’t need to engage as much with people as in other roles, which makes these remote data entry jobs great choices for introverts or those with people anxiety.

Here are some data entry remote jobs below, and current salary estimates from Salary.com and Glassdoor at the time of writing:

1. Remote AI Chatbot Trainer

An AI chatbot trainer feeds data to chatbots and trains them to be conversational, enabling them to understand human queries and inputs, and respond to them effectively. To be effective in this role, you need a background in data science, as well as an understanding of NLP (Natural language processing), and machine learning. Programming skills can be helpful too.

Average salary range: Between $52,000 to $82,000

2. Remote Survey Taker/Researcher

Undertaking surveys and completing research data is another fantastic way to make money from home within data entry, while getting paid for your interests and expertise.

However, it’s crucial to approach online surveys with caution. There are many scam and poor quality websites that promise rewards for completing surveys and research tasks, but actually pay very little, if at all, or are not clear as to their requirements for qualifying.

However, if you were to join an expert network—take GLG Insights as an example—you could be paid a set rate for specific surveys that are related to your direct line of expertise. You would simply be inputting data relevant to the questions being asked and the information they require as part of the research. Often, this can be done in as little as half an hour, and is a great way to make make money in data entry, as a side hustle.

If you want to take your passion for research further, becoming an academic research assistant is another great data entry remote job, in which you will be collecting and reviewing data. The position is also extremely lucrative—being one of the highest paying roles you can find within data entry and research.

Average salary range: A survey taker can make as much as $50 per survey, depending on the company they are working with, while academic researchers earn between $47,911 and $419,743 according to Salary.com—most commonly hovering at around $233,827.

3. Remote Project Assistant/Project Administrator

Last but not least, another excellent option for a remote data entry job is a project administrator role, also sometimes known as project coordinator or project assistant, which can be used interchangeably depending on the company you work for.

The industry for project management professionals is growing, with demand steadily rising at 7% according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics—higher than the average job growth rate.

Project administrators handle the administrative duties that enable a project to successfully run smoothly, from scheduling, to handling spreadsheets, to coordinating tasks, to handling the budget. Much of this revolves around inputting data, especially when working with spreadsheets or using project management software. Depending on the specific project and the company you work for, this role may involve more or less people interaction, with some project administrators working on their own for most of the time, while others find that they work more closely with stakeholders.

Average salary range: Between $55,803 and $73,275

Whether training chatbots, undertaking research and surveys, or managing the ins and outs of the administrative aspects of a project, there’s never been a better time to find remote data entry jobs.
