49ers confirm De’Vondre Campbell three-game suspension
Reporting emerged earlier on Monday that the 49ers would suspend linebacker De’Vondre Campbell for the final three games of the season after his refusal to enter Thursday night’s loss to the Rams.
San Francisco confirmed that on Monday afternoon.
“We have suspended De’Vondre Campbell Sr. for three games due to conduct detrimental to the team,” General Manager John Lynch said in a statement. “We will have no further comment on the matter.”
Campbell, 31, appeared in 13 games with 12 starts for the 49ers, recording 79 tackles with two passes defensed. He signed a one-year deal with San Francisco in March to help replace Dre Greenlaw, who was sidelined by a torn Achilles suffered during February’s Super Bowl.
With the suspension, Campbell is unavailable to other teams and San Francisco will be able to avoid paying the linebacker for the season’s final three weeks.
