CAMBRIDGE ––  An investment of $500,000 will enable Plastic Compounders to expand its production facility and create five new jobs.

The company recently announced the investment, in collaboration with JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE) and the Cambridge-Guernsey County Community Improvement Corporation,

Plastic Compounders recycles post-industrial regrind into pellets and compounds the pellets into a wide range of commodity and engineering resins for several markets, including packaging, horticulture, toys and housewares. The expansion will add an eighth extrusion line to the company’s operations, according to a new release.

“Our sincere thanks to JobsOhio, OhioSE and the Cambridge-Guernsey County Community Improvement Corporation for their invaluable support,” Plastic Compounders Vice President Scott Eubanks said in the release. “This grant allows Plastic Compounders to grow our operations, create jobs and continue to serve our community and customers effectively.”

A second chance employer, Plastic Compounders works with the Guernsey County Probation Office and other programs to offer employment to those on parole and involved in recovery programs.

“Plastic Compounders is a multi-generational, family-owned business that has been providing employment opportunities for local residents since 1965,” Bill Arnett, executive director of Cambridge-Guernsey County Community Improvement Corporation, said in the release.”

A $25,000 JobsOhio Small Business Grant supports the expansion and OhioSE assisted the company with the grant process. The grant provides money to support the growth of small businesses facing unique challenges because they are either located in a qualifying zip code or are owned by an eligible population, which includes minorities, women, veterans and people with disabilities. To qualify the company must have an eligible project and meet business size and industry requirements.

“We congratulate Plastic Compounders on its decision to invest in Guernsey County,” said OhioSE interim President Katy Farber. “We’re grateful to see the JobsOhio Small Business Grant used to support the company’s continued investment.”
