BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – After a vote during Tuesday morning’s Bay County commission meeting, new jobs might soon make their way to the area.

The commissioner has agreed to write a letter of support to Triumph Gulf Coast for Project Joe and Project Derby.

The two projects will bring two aviation maintenance repair and operations (MRO) companies to Bay County, resulting in about 600 new jobs and higher pay.

Bay County Commissioner Bill Dozier said the move is huge as the area continues to grow.

“We’re looking forward to expanding the jobs in Bay County,” Dozier said. “And these jobs are better than the average pay. To qualify for the program, it has to be 115 percent pay above the average pay in Bay County.”

The letter of support will be attached to the grant funding application for the companies looking at Bay County.
