7 military discounts for your fitness journey

Staying in shape can seem like a tall order when faced with the stressors military members and families face daily, and it’s no secret that many military families face financial hardship. Because of this, I’ve gathered some information about discounts and resources available to military families within the fitness industry. Sometimes even a 10-20% can be a huge help in achieving our health and fitness goals. While this is not an endorsement, hopefully something on this list will provide some financial relief on your fitness journey.

Here are 7 military discounts for your fitness journey:

GNC – 10% off online purchases

GNC offers a wide variety of health and fitness supplements. Anything from protein and pre-workout to collagen and creatine. Conveniently, you can often find a GNC not too far from your local exchange BUT keep in mind, this discount appears to be for online purchases only.

Vitamin Shoppe – 20% off in-store on Mondays

Vitamin Shoppe, like GNC, offers a wide variety of supplements. in addition to sports supplements, Vitamin Shoppe also offer natural remedies and herbal teas. With their Military Mondays, you can save 20% off in-store purchases.

Under Armour – 20%

Most people recognize the Under Armour brand. For those of you who don’t, Under Armour is a sports apparel company. Once verified, military and their families can enjoy 20 % off. With their active wear being as popular as it is, it’s a worthy mention.

Reebok – 40%

People attending the 2018 Reebok CrossFit Games participate in Marine Corps’ Battles Won Challenge in Madison, Wisconsin, August 1, 2018. The CrossFit Games is the world’s premiere test to find the “Fittest on Earth.” The Games have been held every summer since 2007 and include a broad variety of different events that that focus on functional movements to quickly move large loads over long distances. Unless you’ve been living on Mars for the past few decades, you know that Reebok is a well-known shoe and sports apparel company. At Reebok, military members can enjoy a 40% discount. Don’t worry, I double-checked their website. I couldn’t believe it either.

Gym Shark – 10%

Gym Shark is another fitness apparel brand offering a military discount. With WeSalute, members get 10% off.

USAA – Active & Fit membership

For those of you who are USAA members, they offer a perk that you may be interested in. Their partnership with Active & Fit offers access to many gyms across the country at a discounted rate. With many options available and the constant moving military families endure, it’s no secret why this benefit makes sense.

YMCA – Military Outreach Initiative

No-cost gym memberships and respite child care are great benefits. This last mention does come with certain criteria that must be met prior to enjoying the benefits offered.  The YMCA’s website lists all necessary requirements and further information for application.

There are many other companies and organizations that offer health and fitness benefits and discounts to military members. Keep in mind that companies change policies constantly. With some of these changes, discounts and services may be added, changed, or even removed entirely. When in doubt, make sure to check the company’s website or contact their customer service for clarification.
