City of Flint offers youth paid summer jobs
FLINT, Mich.—Six community organizations will provide jobs for Flint youth this summer.
Flint youth between the ages of 15 and 19 were at the City of Flint Service Center on Clio Rd. to sign up for summer jobs.
Youth can continue to sign up on June 18th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The 5-week program will provide 60 Flint kids with paid summer jobs.
Each job will pay $11 an hour for 29 hours each week.
Six community organizations will provide jobs for the youth from $200,000 in ARPA funds.
The six organizations are:
- North Flint Neighborhood Action Council
- Latinx Technology and Community Center
- The Good Church
- Cathedral of Faith
- Faith Foundation Resources
- McCree Theatre
“Summer jobs are a great way for young people to learn about the world of work and gain experience,” Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley said. “They provide positive ways for youth to participate in their communities during the summer, when they might otherwise be lightly supervised while parents are working.
