Sports briefs: Pacifics see four-game win streak snapped
The San Rafael Pacifics surrendered the go-ahead run to Vallejo in the bottom of the eighth, taking an 8-7 loss on Monday night that ended a four-game winning streak.
The Pacifics (16-5) took a 3-1 lead in a three-run third inning and moved back in front 7-6 by scoring two more runs in the top of the sixth.
Braxton King had two hits and scored twice for San Rafael. Blake Diggle also scored twice for San Rafael, which plays two games at Bakersfield on Wednesday and Thursday before hosting the Train Robbers for a two-game set on Friday and Saturday.
San Rafael defeated Marysville 13-2 on Sunday, getting seven strong innings from starter pitcher Alex Valasek, who struck out nine and scattered eight hits.
Mark Hernandez, Beau Dorman, and King all had three hits apiece to pace the Pacifics. Hernandez drove in a game-high five runs and Dorman connected for his third home run of the season.
San Rafael scored in seven of eight innings, highlighted by a five-run outburst in the third to go in front 8-1.
