Justin Timberlake reportedly claims ‘I had one martini’ before Hamptons DWI arrest

New details have come to light about Justin Timberlake‘s DWI arrest in the Hamptons. The “Can’t Stop the Feeling” singer, 43, was pulled over in the Sag Harbor community of the Hamptons on early Tuesday morning and arrested on charges of driving “in an intoxicated condition.” He was arraigned and released hours later.

According to the criminal complaint obtained by NBC News, Timberlake told police officers at the time of arrest, “I had one martini, and I followed my friends home.” According to the report, the pop star failed to walk heel-to-toe or stand on one leg without using his arms for balance in his field sobriety tests. He also allegedly refused to take a chemical impairment test.

It was “ascertained that the defendant was operating said vehicle in an intoxicated condition in that his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests,” Sag Harbor Village police officer Michael Arkinson wrote in the complaint.

The arrest occurred after Timberlake dined at The American Hotel and was on the way to a friend’s house in the community. The singer pled not guilty to the charges and is due back in court on July 26. He has hired Sag Harbor Village attorney Ed Burke Jr. to represent him.

“I look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake on these allegations. I will have a lot to say at the appropriate time but am currently awaiting full discovery from the District Attorney’s office,” Burke Jr. said in a statement obtained by Entertainment Weekly.
