Forbes Unveils Its Annual World’s Most Influential CMOs List

New York/Cannes – June 20, 2024 – Forbes today releases its 12th annual World’s Most Influential CMOs list, recognizing those chief marketers from around the world, whose work is influencing the the trajectory of their brands and businesses and, often, the cultural landscape itself.

Marian Lee, Chief Marketing Officer of Netflix tops this year’s list with Tariq Hassan of McDonald’s and Frank Cooper III of Visa making up the top three.

In aggregate, the chief-marketers recognized on the 20204 Forbes World’s Most Influential CMO’s list represent companies with a combined market cap of nearly 11 trillion dollars USD, and as of the close of markets on June 7th, and employee nearly 10 million people in over 150 countries around the world.

The Forbes list is data driven and along with the company’s primary research partner, Sprinklr, and with essential supplemental data and analysis provided by LinkedIn, ultimately analyzes nearly 8 billion individual data points to get to the 50 chief marketers recognized.

Alongside the annual CMOs list, Forbes launched its CMO Hall of Fame in 2022, honoring those who have been featured on the list five times. Now in its third year Forbes can reveal two new inductees: Andrea Brimmer, Chief Marketing and PR Officer of Ally Financial and Dara Treseder, CMO of Autodesk.

Seth Matlins, Managing Director of the Forbes CMO Network said “There is much to learn from what each and every one of these marketers does and does not do to create customers. From how they are influencing the character and destiny of our industry, and indeed the world itself, as surely as they do the trajectory of their own brands and companies.”

Matlins also named “The CEO” as the “Unofficial Number One” on the 2024 list because of their often uninformed, unwitting, and yet outsized influence on marketing, chief marketers, and the growth of brands and businesses.

“Changes from shifting socio-economic forecasts to those across the cultural, marketing and media landscapes globally, make the CMO’s job the most challenged in the C-suite. They are expected to provide certainty in a world that lacks it, and the exercise of their influence is more complicated than it’s ever been. Inclusion on this year’s list, is a testimony to their creativity and resilience”
