Husker assistant football coach Ron Brown hosts annual ‘Pass It On’ sports camp in Arnold

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) – For decades, Nebraska Football assistant coach Ron Brown has been helping connect young athletes with faith through sports camps.

“Pass It On” football and volleyball camps have been led by Ron Brown, who serves as current director of player support and outreach for the Nebraska Football program. Aside from his role in Lincoln, Brown leads the “Pass It On” camps that have made its way back to Arnold.

The main objective of the camps is to teach young boys and girls not just the fundamentals of football and volleyball, but to connect the games with faith.

“Ultimately, our main objective is to remind them that you have an opportunity to understand who Jesus Christ is, and we get the opportunity to worship the Lord on and off the field, and so the Bible tells us we hardly do our work for him while we’re doing even a football camp,” Brown said.

Brown also said that the small community of Arnold has a special place in his heart for hosting his yearly camps and teaching not just the fundamentals of sports, but for establishing a connection with faith for young athletes at an early age.

“There is a special connection here in Arnold, and the people are receptive; for whatever reason, the Lord opens the door in mysterious places, even in tiny little places where people have a heart for the Lord,” Brown said. “These boys will not turn down football, but many have never understood the connection you can make between football and Jesus Christ, so that is what we bring uniquely. We are not inventing anything. We are just simply being faithful to the Lord for what we should be about in the game of football.”
