Duchess Sophie Just Wore a Baby Blue Sleeveless Shirtdress—and It’s the Summer Staple We Need
When it comes to Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, we are in awe of all her style decisions as of late. There was her sheer white dress at Royal Ascot, but also her lemon yellow look at Trooping the Colour. Still, if we may be so bold, a softer blue—such as this lovely cornflower coat she wore last Christmas—is definitely her color. That’s why we love the sleeveless shirtdress she wore to the Royal Windsor Cup Final this week. (Her Emilia Wickstead style is past-season, but we found plenty of alternatives—including this denim-like version from Mango, $80—below.)
What is it about this look that makes it such a seasonal wardrobe workhorse? First and foremost, the baby blue hue feels summer-ready, but the sleeveless style itself is airy and light—a dream for days when temps start to soar, but also the kind of look you could pair with a cardigan and be ready to go. In fact, it defines one-and-done dressing, but it’s also a look that’s versatile and packable. You could build so many outfits around this simple, classic and vacation-ready piece.
It’s true, Sophie’s Emilia Wickstead style, called the ‘Monique,’ is sold out (though it says you can register interest in a restock on their site, FYI). Good thing we found a few near-exact alternatives below.
