Officer-involved shooting takes place at Sioux Falls business
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Officers responded to an incident in central Sioux Falls on Wednesday morning that turned into a shooting with the suspect.
Sioux Falls Police say at approximately 3 a.m. on Wednesday morning, they along with the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident at a Get-n-Go convenience store on the 600 block of S. Minnesota Ave.
Lt. Nick Butler said that officers on the scene “took gunfire from inside the business and ultimately were involved in a shooting with the suspect.”
A Dakota News Now crew was on the scene and reported hearing loud noises around 3:38 a.m. The front door of the business also appears to have broken glass, possibly from a bullet.
14th Street was briefly closed from Dakota Ave. to Minnesota Ave. this morning but has since reopened.
Chief Thum and a representative from the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office will be at the One Sioux Falls Media Briefing at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday to provide additional details. We will report additional details on this incident as they become available.
