Whoopi Goldberg Lights Fire Under Cannabis Business With Two Brand Launches

Whoopi Goldberg is adding fuel to her cannabis business.

Later this month, the EGOT winner and veteran host on The View will officially bring to market two cannabis brands under her WhoopFam umbrella. The first, Emma & Clyde, is expanding after an earlier launch in 2022 and a limited run in Arizona. Named after Goldberg’s late mother and brother, Emma & Clyde will be available in select stores in California, Arizona and Ohio with offerings designed for both medical and recreational users across categories like edibles, pre-rolls, flowers and accessories.

The second launch marks the return of Goldberg’s Whoopi & Maya brand. That line of products — launched in 2016 and shuttered less than four years later when Goldberg and business partner Maya Elisabeth parted ways due to a reported irreconcilable rift — focused on providing menstrual relief as well as general pain relief and overall holistic wellness through topicals, edibles and bath salts. Per the WhoopFam website, the revamped Whoopi & Maya will also include cacao edibles, tinctures, topicals, hydrotherapy products and more.

It’s such a big moment for Goldberg and the WhoopFam team that she will be traveling to the West Coast for an exclusive event scheduled for July 20 in Los Angeles at which they will toast the two brands. Also of note: For her continued support of the LGBTQIA+ community, Goldberg will be honored with a key to the city during a ceremony in West Hollywood that same day.

“I am so glad that we are re-introducing Whoopi & Maya to a new group of women who will benefit greatly from period pain relief, which it was initially created for, as well as welcoming a whole new group of human beings who find themselves suffering from all types of muscular discomfort. There are tinctures, chocolate, as well as a soak, that I know people are going to love,” Goldberg explained in a statement. Of the more new(ish) brand, Emma & Clyde, Goldberg praised the product range as well as her partners. “Emma & Clyde offers flowers, pre-rolls and trays. You name it, it’s possible we make it. To work closely with Alex Martin-Dean, Bernard Dean, Scott Lambert and the team at WhoopFam is a great pleasure and proof that you can work with family.”

It truly is a family business. Martin-Dean is Goldberg’s daughter while Bernard Dean is her son-in-law. Lambert is one of Goldberg’s business partners and a longtime cannabis business insider and consultant. “Healing through nature,” boasts the WhoopFam website, “From our family to yours.”
