Food, fireworks, entertainment draw large July 4 crowd to Event Centre

Southeast Texas helped celebrate the nation’s birthday in a big way tonight, with fireworks displays in Beaumont, Port Arthur and Orange.

The Event Centre in downtown Beaumont played host to a large crowd enjoying the entertainment, food, and grand finale, a spectacular fireworks shows in the sky.

Many families spent time camping out on the lawn, enjoying the view and the food from various venders.

The celebration included live entertainment, a DJ, and face painting. Children were also able to enjoy a nearby playground.

Some of the people we spoke with say they always celebrate with the city for its family friendly atmosphere.

”I enjoy it every year,” said Tonya Miller. “It seems like it gets better, bigger. You have more food vendors out, more people come out.”

“The last three to four years, they’ve been encouraging us to come down to the Event Centre,” said Joseph Ledet, “and it’s been growing every year, so that’s one thing that’s good.”

The company that puts on the fireworks show uses about 1,000 shells during the roughly 20 minute display syncronized to music.
