Over ,000 worth of equipment stolen from railroad business on Halls Mill Road

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A local construction company loses tens and thousands of dollars of after a thief targeted them over the weekend.

On July 4 at approximately 10:53 p.m., surveillance footage caught an individual breaking into Alabama Railroad and Construction Company, located on Halls Mill Road. The footage showed the man wearing all black, looking around the area for 15 minutes. He then returned at 2:43 a.m., stealing around $12,000 worth of tools.

“It was two rail saws, a rail drill, a Milwaukee impact gun and a power washer,” said general manager Trey Crigler.

According to Crigler, the tools that were taken are hard to come by.

“The tools, the saws and the drills are very rare,” Crigler said. “Nobody has this kind of stuff around Mobile. These things are very unique. Two chop saws but they said “rail” on them. They are outfitted to specifically cut railroad iron.”

Crigler said without the equipment, it will cause the business to slow down.

“It is just a loss pretty much,” he said.

Alabama Railroad and Construction Company is not the only business that was broken into recently. According to a nearby business owner, one of their vehicles was targeted as well.

Mobile Police are currently investigating.

If you know who the person is, call MPD right away.
