Locks

WNBA (0.75 Unit) Chicago Sky/NY Liberty First Quarter Over 41.5 (-110; Odds via DraftKings): 6:00 PM CT on Prime Video

Both of these teams are on a back-to-back here after yesterday’s slate of day games. I think that could cause some lackadaisical defense early on tonight, and it’s been hard enough to slow these offenses as is. That’s always the case with New York as they lead the league in shooting, but the Sky have shown big improvements lately on the offensive end.

I’m also looking at the previous meetings where Chicago has given the Liberty some trouble, and the first quarters have hit 42 and 46 points. The Liberty are likely to put up one of their usual big first quarter numbers which should drive scoring, but the Sky will contribute enough to get this over a reasonably low total.

MLB (0.6 Unit) Seattle Mariners/LA Angels First 5 Innings Under 4.5 (-125; Odds via BetMGM): 8:38 PM CT on ROOT Sports NW

Both of these teams have significant issues at the plate, and I think that leads to a quiet first few innings tonight. There are two righthanded starters going in this game, and that’s another reason to expect limited scoring. Seattle ranks dead last in batting average against righties and are 28th in scoring, so they struggle no matter what.

But they’re also facing a starter making his major league debut in Jack Kochanowicz, so I would anticipate them having trouble adjusting to him early on. And Luis Castillo for the Mariners should continue his strength against the Angels. They have just a cumulative .207 batting average against Castillo, who also shut them out over 7 innings last month. Look for limited offense early in this game as both pitchers will have the advantage.
