FanDuel pinched by gambling regulators, coughs up more than $230k after taking bets on pre-recorded PFL fights

Sports betting is easy (and quite profitable) when you already know the results.

Just ask James Krause.

New Jersey gambling regulators recently announced a $2,000 fine along with $231,094 in restitution after popular sports book FanDuel was pinched for taking a total of 34 wagers on 2022 PFL MMA fights that were pre-recorded.

On April Fool’s Day, to boot.

“FanDuel confirmed that its traders failed to confirm with PFL that the event had previously occurred and was being presented via a tape delay,” New Jersey Deputy Attorney General Gina DeAnnuntis said (via ABC News).

The punishment was handed down back in January but not publicized until this week.

PFL representatives denied any wrongdoing — outside of (inadvertently) using duplicate promo copy — and insist the broadcast “did not include any betting lines, content, or promotion in connection with the program.”

The organization returns to the airwaves for the PFL Playoffs next month in Nashville.
