Ribbon cutting held for ‘Mayo Clinic Health System Diagnostic Imaging & Sports Medicine Center’

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – A media tour and ribbon-cutting were held Thursday afternoon for the new Mayo Clinic Health System Diagnostic Imaging & Sports Medicine Center.

The Center is located at the County Materials Complex on Menomonie Street in Eau Claire. The 20,000 square foot facility will include a fixed MRI, two x-ray suites and an ultrasound procedure room.

One of the Mayo Sports Medicine doctors, Amy Rantala, M.D. Orthopedics & Orthopedic Surgery, says while they will have a team of athletic trainers on site at Blugolds games, the Center will be open to everyone, not just University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students.

“Maybe they’re starting out, or maybe they’re pushing themselves hard. Or maybe they’re going to try a new endeavor, and sometimes people get hurt. We want to help get people back on their game as fast as they can,” Rantala, M.D. said.

Dr. Rantala says all the Center doctors are from other Mayo Clinics in the Chippewa Valley.
