The Killers set world record with notable anthem’s epic UK chart run

The Killers are now world record holders.

The Las Vegas-based band recently accepted Guinness World Records certificates for Mr. Brightside, which was recognized for achieving the longest stay on the UK singles chart by a group as well as the most cumulative weeks on the UK singles chart (one song).

According to officials, the song’s record sits at 416 weeks, which totals nearly eight years.

“It’s infectious still to us, I know some people can’t wrap their head around it but you’ll see the response [when you see it live],” frontman Brandon Flowers said.

The band has also noted throughout the years that to this date, they still don’t get sick of performing what many jokingly call the “unofficial National Anthem” in Britain.

Earlier this week, a video of The Killers went viral after they projected the England soccer game on a big screen behind them as they clinched a spot in the EURO 2024 Cup final.

Concert-goers were then seen cheering as confetti cannons went off and the band began playing none other than Mr. Brightside.
