Summer Sports: Shane Benedict, big bats help Chester top Ridley

A two-run double by Jake Fallers and a two-run single from James Baffone led Chester to an 11-1 win over Ridley in the Delco League Thursday night.

Shane Benedict was the winning pitcher.

Wayne 5, Narberth 4 >> Jamie Neris went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, and Bennett Cox scored twice as Wayne outlasted Narberth.

Wayne led 5-1 before the Outsiders scored three runs in the top of the seventh. Alex Pak dd enough to stop the bleeding around two unearned runs. Mike Valente allowed one run in five innings.

Matt Kane, Luke Zimmerman and Matt Briner also drove in runs for Wayne.

Connor Schilling hit a two-run double for Narberth in the seventh. Tom Kozlusky scored twice.

In the Mid-County League:

Brookhaven 1 10, Aldan 5 >> Kenny Jansen struck out eight in a complete-game gem, allowing just three earned runs.

Nick Corrado went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs for Brookhaven. Sam Biely scored twice, and Jaxson Grant and Colin Shane had an RBI and a run scored each.

Softball

Deadon did its work exclusively in the first and eighth innings to defeat St. Anthony’s and tie its best-of-3 playoff series in the Brandywine Valley Senior Softball Association.

Bill Zahn contributed a triple to a five-run first inning. George Poole, Bruce Dorbian and Dave Seiler had hits in both rallies, the latter two supplying run-scoring doubles in the eighth. Howard Gardner got the win.
