Richard Simmons Cried Uncontrollably During His Classes And It Caused Lots Of Awkwardness

Richard Simmons was devoted to the well-being of others, and keeping trainees in shape. However, he did have some strange rules for his fitness cult. According to Mamamia, the most bizarre rule was showing too much emotion during his classes. It is said that Richard Simmons would typically cry during a class, but not just casual tears. Deep sobbing to the point that it made things awkward for others in the class…

Lauren Weedman recalled some of the details, and admitted it wasn’t like anything she expected.

“He [Simmons] is not what he’s like on TV”, Weedman says. “He’s even more hilarious. Until he starts crying.”

Dan Taberski adds, “It has happened in every class I’ve ever been to. Sometimes it’s brought on by a story about someone he’s helped… sometimes it’s a personal story about his own struggles. And sometimes it just sort of creeps up on him, like when he’s working us through some arm curls. He’ll just lose it.”

Weedman went on to reveal that tears were a little too genuine for those in the class.

“It was out of control crying. At the time, I remember thinking it was scary… he goes so far… he’s crumbling right in front of you.”

Simmons kept things positive, despite some questionable messages in the past that had fans concerned.
