South Carolina sees rise in gas prices amid summer travel season
CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — Gas prices rose across the Palmetto State through July as the summer travel season peaks.
Since last week, prices have risen 5.1 cents per gallon, averaging $3.25 per gallon on Monday.
Prices are also 17 cents higher than a month ago, and 12.5 cents higher than a year ago. The report comes from GasBuddy’s survey of 3028 stations across South Carolina, where it was reported that the cheapest station sold gas at $2.88 per gallon and the most expensive sold at $3.59 per gallon, a 71-cent difference.

National gas prices have also risen, with the nationwide average jumping 2.5 cents per gallon last week to $3.49 per gallon today. The average is also up 5.2 cents from a month ago and is 5.8 cents lower than a year ago.
South Carolina has maintained lower gas prices than the national average for at least the last 10 years.
