OXFORD — Shoppers around Oxford Hills will see more choice in tool brands and cost, with a shorter drive to reach them when Harbor Freight Tools opens a new store at 1570 Main Street in Oxford.

According to a press release issued last month, the company will hire 25-30 employees. Starting wages for part-time seasonal, retail and stocking associates will be $17.10 and $20 for full-time supervisors. Full health, vacation and holiday benefits are offered to full-time workers. Harbor Freight has been certified as a “Great Place to Work®”.

“We’ve been looking to open a location in Oxford for a number of years so that we can provide the tools and equipment at tremendous values to the community,” said Trey Feiler, senior vice president, Real Estate and Construction for Harbor Freight Tools.

“In addition to finding a great location, we were attracted by the availability of great Associates in the Oxford area, and we look forward to having them join the Harbor Freight team.”

Construction is underway at the northern end of Oxford Plaza on the site of the former Flagship Cinema, which operated there from 1997-2014. Its closest neighbor in the shopping center will be Daddy O’s Diner.

The store will open later this spring, although the official date has not been announced.

With 9,152 square feet of retail and 5,999 of warehouse space, the new store is on par with Harbor Freight Tool’s other 1,400 locations.
