BREAKING: New England Patriots WR Spared From Gambling And Fraud Charges – Gridiron Heroics

The New England Patriots have a reputation for cheating and getting around certain rules. This goes back to the days of Bill Belichick stealing signs from opponents and Tom Brady having footballs deflated.

That is why it was not a good look for them when rookie WR Kayshon Boutte was accused of underage gambling and computer fraud. Now, Boutte is trying to clear his name. Read below to find out the latest details about his case.

According to Mike Reiss of ESPN, Kayshon Boutte has had his underage gambling and computer charges against him dropped. He was initially accused of placing bets on football games when he was as young as 20 years old. On top of this, Boutte was accused of using an alias to work around the minimum legal gambling age of 21 years old.

Now, Boutte’s attorney has confirmed that the above charges have been dropped. He did not miss any time with the Patriots this offseason, as head coach Jerod Mayo was waiting to see how his case played out.

Boutte’s NFL career is nothing to write home about. He has only been in the league for one season and played just five games last year. In those five games, he had just two receptions for 19 yards.

Kayshon Boutte played at LSU from 2020-22. He put up much better numbers while he was in college. So, what did those numbers look like? Boutte had 131 receptions, 1,781 receiving yards, and 16 touchdown receptions in three seasons with LSU.

So, how will the Patriots and Boutte move forward? Well, as mentioned above, Mayo never asked Boutte to step away from the team. As a result, it should be business as usual for the Patriots.

Given the franchise’s reputation, however, this has to be a relief for the Patriots. New England has a poor reputation when it comes to cheating allegations. One of the more notable cases was back in 2015 when the Patriots blew out the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship. At that time, Tom Brady was accused of using deflated footballs and was suspended for four games.

On top of this, Bill Belichick and the Patriots were accused of stealing signs from the New York Jets. As a result, Belichick was fined $500,000. New England was fined $250,000 and had to give up a first-round pick along with that.
