BENNINGTON — There was a very well-attended event at Bennington Theater on Tuesday night. Attendees enjoyed a fundraiser and live show by Wayne Hoffman, renowned mentalist and illusionist.
Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour, bid on raffle items and had the opportunity to view updates that have taken place in the space, such as changes to the layout, transforming it into a full black box interior, as well as improvements to the bar. According to the new executive director, Kevin Carlon, there is still much more to be done, from tech equipment upgrades, bathroom renovations to enhancing areas where guests interact with the space, such as the side entrance, green room, and kitchen.
The event served as the season announcement and fundraiser, with the aim of spreading the word about the new programming at Bennington Theater. This expansion transforms the space from Oldcastle with only five or six professional theater productions per year to host hundreds of events per year to include readings, live music, a comedy series, a children’s series, movie series and more.
Carlon presented a slideshow showcasing the current state of the building, its history, and its future, while also highlighting some of the upcoming productions slated for Downtown Bennington.
