2024 Dana Open brings world’s best LPGA players to Sylvania, thousands of dollars to local charities
SYLVANIA, Ohio (WTVG) – The sound of professional golfers teeing off is music to the ears of volunteers with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio.
“I mean, it’s incredible. We’ve been involved with the tournament since day one and because of that, it’s such a great impactful accomplishment to be here,” said Wendy Bejaige, Director of Engagement for Ronald McDonald House Charities of NW Ohio.
Each year, the Dana Open brings the top LPGA golfers in the world to Highland Meadows in Sylvania. The LPGA also brings big donations to local charities. That’s why those with Ronald McDonald house volunteer to run hole 10.
“These funds are something that come in every year. It helps support the operating, which directly affects the families that travel to Toledo, having medical concerns that they’re dealing with, sometimes the worst day of their life, so we’re happy to be there for them and things like this allow us to do that,” explains Chad Bringman, President of Ronald McDonald House Charities of NW Ohio.
“So, we’ve gotten, you know, almost 2 million dollars from the tournament over the years, and so as a result of that we’re happy to take responsibility for hole 10 and bring in the people and make it happen,” added Bejaige.
The 2024 tournament continues through Sunday, July 21. For information, click here.
