Post-pandemic era forces another Greater Cincinnati business into closing
NEWPORT, Ky. (WXIX) – One of Newport’s finest restaurants closed its doors after nearly 30 years of serving the Greater Cincinnati Community.
York Street Cafe, owned and operated by William Cole, waited on its last customers on Saturday, July 14.
“Unfortunately, like many restaurants, we struggled to bounce back after the pandemic. That, along with layers of other issues compounded to force our hand,” Cole told FOX19 NOW in a statement. “We love our loyal guests and our loyal employees, and are heartbroken that things ended this way.”
Despite the tragic closure that appears to have hit the community hard, York Street Cafe listed all of its favorite moments, and it was all thanks to its loyal customer base: Weddings, proposals, first dates, anniversaries, birthdays – more than 29 years of the happiest memories.
The Newport staple would have turned 30 in September.
