Today’s horoscope, July 21, 2024: It’s almost time for the Buck Moon

HOROSCOPES BY HOLIDAY, BY HOLIDAY MATHIS

Male deer shed their antlers in winter, and by July a new crowning glory sits atop their head, nature’s way of helping them impress one another. The full moon in July is the Buck Moon, recalling any array of reasons to hold your head up and show what’s growing from it. In the human sense, it’s about sharing ideas and pitching creative invitations.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). You’ll deal with many things out of your control. The number of moving parts is what makes this journey profound. State what you want, then step aside and let things work themselves out.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Nonsense can pass for plausible reality. Passersby who are not invested in the action will see the truth faster than the intelligent people on the inside. It’s hard to stay objective today, so ask for outside perspectives.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). So many people don’t write thank-you notes these days that a simple gesture like this can make a huge impression. Other ways to win socially include a similar combination of thoughtfulness, gratitude and displays of initiative.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). In the days before GPS, the feeling of being lost used to happen much more often. Now it takes an effort to get truly lost, and it will be well worth it, as not knowing (SET ITAL) where (END ITAL) you are can teach you a lot about (SET ITAL) who (END ITAL) you are.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). The butterfly of happiness is more likely to alight on your shoulder if you stay still. There is no need to rush. Adjust your pacing. Experiment with this. Something magical happens when you settle in.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Once you take a thing on, it can be rather all-consuming due to your high level of passion and commitment. Letting others dictate this is dangerous to your well-being. Before you decide what’s important, decide what’s important to you.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). The most important thing to bring to a task is the right attitude. Though this usually requires you to match the right tone to the environment at hand, you can’t go wrong with an attitude of kindness. Character counts more than personality.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Those who don’t give you a chance to shine might be afraid of what will happen when the attention shifts from them to you. You may not think of someone as a competitor, but they may think of you this way.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Strange happenings and glitches should not be seen as isolated instances. Everything is part of a pattern; it’s just that some patterns are immediately obvious, and others take a very long time to repeat.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You wouldn’t be where you stand now had you not pushed through some difficult scenarios with your extraordinary will. Remember this. Give yourself credit. You can do anything.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You’ll bring the superstar energy to today’s endeavor. This may mean getting into the mix and handling things. It may also mean staying out of the mix and observing things. Likely, it will mean a little of both.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). The reason not to gossip is more practical than moral. It makes you feel bad. Your conscience acts up, and so does your moral sense. And what comes around goes around. You’ll be a model for others.

TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (July 21). You’ll devote yourself to a quest, which gives the year the tone of a colorful fantasy, though one rooted in truth. You’ll strike on eternal wisdom. More highlights: juxtapositions and contrasts — exhilarating plot twists next to serene moments, and a heartfelt compliment that takes a relationship in new directions. Taurus and Sagittarius adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 13, 2, 29, 4 and 18.

CELEBRITY PROFILES: His extraordinary talent knew no bounds, but it’s the kindheartedness of Robin Williams that continues to impact the world profoundly through a body of work in entertainment and philanthropy. The Robin Williams Foundation supports mental health and wellness initiatives, ensuring his compassionate influence endures. Williams was born under an empathetic Pisces moon, with Mercury and Pluto in the entertaining and playful realm of Leo.
