The Best Fashions From the WNBA All-Star Weekend
Last night, the WNBA All-Star Game saw Team USA face off against Team WNBA at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Winning with a 117-109 final score, Team WNBA saw its star players such as Arike Ogunbowale, Caitlin Clark, and Angel Reese bring their A-game to the court. (Ogunbowale was even named the Most Valuable Player, after collecting a record 34 points.)
But before the big game was underway, however, the star athletes made their press rounds this weekend—walking the orange carpet in style. There, the players turned the courts into a high-fashion playground—bringing statement looks to the mix that were a leveled-up change from their traditional jerseys. On the fashion roster? Cool suits, refined dresses, and even some hot new sportswear pieces, too.
Of course, athletes such as Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark have already been infiltrating the fashion world, so it’s no surprise they brought some of their best looks for All-Star weekend. Clark wore clean, contemporary looks by labels such as Gucci and Versace, including Gucci’s brown mini skirt and a cream short-sleeve top. Reese opted for a mesh two-piece set, complete with a Louis Vuitton bag; A’ja Wilson, meanwhile, donned a plaid zip-up jacket and skirt, accessorizing it with yellow Versace platforms and frilly white lace socks.
Clearly, the walk into the arena was all about embodying confidence and using fashion to hype each other up. Whereas court style is all about uniformity and adhering to the jersey, the pre-game fashion MO saw individuality and personality shine. You could say the tunnel is the new runway.
