2024 Summer Olympics Soccer Futures Best Bets

With the Summer Games kicking off this week, the Sports Gambling Podcast Network previews the action in Paris with our 2024 Summer Olympics men’s soccer futures best bets.

Soccer is one of the first sports to begin the Summer Games. The men’s first round starts on Wednesday before the women’s on Thursday.

The men’s tournament has four groups of four nations, and the top two from each group will advance to the knockout round. The United States has been put into Group A with France, while Argentina and Spain are your other betting favorites.

The top two nations from each of the three women’s groups will also advance from group play, while the top two third-place finishers join them. The USA make their first competitive appearance under coach Emma Hayes as the betting favorite at +175.

The summer of soccer continues in Paris with what should be two great tournaments. So, let’s dive into the Summer Games with our 2024 Summer Olympics soccer futures best bets.

Men’s Group Winner Parlay – France to Win Group A & Argentina to Win Group B (+100) DraftKings

I don’t see any betting value in picking a winner of the Summer Games. However, I do like the price of combining two of the favorites to win their group.

Starting first with the tournament host, France is coached by legend Thierry Henry. The former striker has to be excited about his attacking options.

The French are bringing veteran forwards Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon) and Jean-Philippe Mateta (Crystal Palace). This duo is then trailed by one of the best young attacking midfielders in the world, Michael Olise (Bayern Munich).

While their group does include New Zealand and the USA, I don’t see either of those nations being able to hold out Les Blues. Yes, the United States did earn a 2-2 draw against France back in March, but the trio above did not play in that match.

Argentina also has a strong attack, spearheaded by Manchester City’s Julián Álvarez. He should get plenty of service with Thiago Almada operating as the Number 10 behind him.

I also like how Javier Mascherano used his other veteran spots with key defensive enforcements. Nicolás Otamendi (Benfica) and Gerónimo Rulli (Ajax) should make Argentina tough to beat.

The biggest test will be the opener against Morocco, where Argentina is a -145 moneyline favorite. With them being bigger favorites in the next two matches, I like Mascherano’s squad to top Group B.

men’s Group D Winner – Mali (+300) DraftKings

Group D is the one quartet that doesn’t have a clear favorite, and this is the one that I have circled to take a long shot with by backing Mali.

No, Mali may not have the star power of some of the other nations. However, this team is well-represented in Europe’s top leagues.

There are six players on the roster that play in either the Premier League, Ligue 1, Bundesliga or the Primeira Liga. Plus, eight others play professionally in Europe.

Meanwhile, I don’t trust Paraguay or Japan as the two teams with the lowest odds in Group D. Mali beat the Japanese 3-1 in a friendly back in March.

Meanwhile, Paraguay does not come into the tournament in good form. Since June, the Paraguayans have been outscored 11-2 in four friendly losses to Argentina, France, and the USA.

With neither Paraguay nor Japan bringing in veteran stars, I like Mali to make a surprise run at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Women’s 2024 Summer Olympics Winner – Spain (+200) DraftKings

As much as I’d love to back the United States, I don’t think the Americans are ready yet under Hayes. It also does not make any sense why Spain is not listed as the tournament favorite.

This is the same Spanish side that won the 2023 World Cup. La Roja followed that up by running through the Nations League before defeating France in the final.

Outside of their form, I also like the fact that Spain has been playing competitive matches in Euro 2024 qualifying before this event. Meanwhile, many nations have only had to rely on friendlies to prep for this tournament.

With only three groups in the women’s competition, there is no easy group for any of the favorites. Spain will face Brazil and Japan in Group C, both of which rank in the Top 10 of the FIFA Rankings.

The Japanese team also defeated Spain at the last World Cup, which is one of just three losses for La Roja since 2023. Regardless, Spain should be listed as the betting favorite.

I like the women’s team to follow the men’s triumph with a gold medal here for our final 2024 Summer Olympics soccer futures best bet.
