Gov. Cooper announces 275 jobs will come to Wilson County with global pet healthcare company
RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) – An Eastern Carolina county toasts an announcement that new jobs are soon coming.
IDEXX, a global pet healthcare company, says it will bring 275 jobs to Wilson County and invest more than $147 million in the new facility located in the Wilson Corporate Park on International Boulevard.
“We are excited to welcome IDEXX to Wilson County,” said Governor Roy Cooper. “North Carolina offers the talented workforce and training systems companies need.”
IDEXX, headquartered in Westbrook, Maine, produces veterinary diagnostics and software solutions. The new plant will manufacture veterinary diagnostic products.
“North Carolina’s focus on workforce development continues to pay off,” said Commerce Secretary Machelle Baker Sanders. “We will keep investing in the schools and training programs that deliver results.”
According to the Department of Commerce, workers will be paid $65,873, above Wilson County’s average of $52,619. They said the new positions will bring an annual payroll of over $18 million per year.
IDEXX’s project will be supported by a Job Development Investment Grant, which could reimburse the company up to $3.87 million over 12 years, contingent on job creation and investment targets.
The state says this project is estimated to grow the North Carolina’s economy by $1 billion over those 12 years.
