Pulaski County forms Sports, Tourism and Entertainment Authority to boost local economy

PULASKI COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – The Pulaski County Board of Supervisors announced Tuesday the formation of the Sports, Tourism and Entertainment Authority that aims to boost the local economy.

According to the board, the Authority aims to support the local hospitality industry and small businesses within Pulaski County.

This consists of acquiring, expanding, leasing, operating, and maintaining recreational, event and entertainment facilities within the county, according to the Authority.

The Authority board will include five to seven members each serving two year terms, with the inaugural members’ terms starting October 1, 2024 and ending on December 31, 2026.

The members are selected based on their knowledge and experience in sports tourism, entertainment, finance, real estate, property management, hospitality, or business management, according to the board of supervisors.

The board of supervisors adds that Authority board members can serve an unlimited number of terms.

The board members include:

  • Bud Foster of Virginia Tech
  • Dr. Angela Joyner, Ph.D., of Radford University
  • Kevin Meredith of New Roads Mindset, LLC
  • Ashley Coake, CFP, EA, of Cultivate Financial Planning, LLC
  • Amber Clark of New River Community College
  • Missy Gentry of The Shelor Group
