Harrison Ford admits he was pretending not to know who Red Hulk is
Leave it to Harrison Ford to keep Marvel’s secrets.
The Indiana Jones star, set to play Thunderbolt Ross/Red Hulk in the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World, admitted that he only pretended not to know who Red Hulk was after stopping by Entertainment Weekly‘s Comic-Con 2024 studio on Saturday night.
Joined by costars Anthony Mackie (as Sam Wilson/Captain America), Giancarlo Esposito (Sidewinder, the King of the Serpent Society), Danny Ramirez (Joaquín Torres/Falcon), and Tim Blake Nelson (the Leader), Ford sarcastically quipped when asked if he really didn’t know who Red Hulk was, “No, thank you very much. That’s how dumb I am.”

“Yes, I did know, and I thought it was a fabulous secret to keep,” he continued. “Unfortunately, the secret’s out of the bag. But what I do not know is what the Red Hulks do, which is very interesting to me.”
Ford said he was drawn to the project because it allowed him to work with Mackie and co. and “to make scenes that had complexity and drama and humor.” He added, “These guys could all do that really well. I had the best time. I had seen other actors in the Marvel universe, well respected, really good actors, have a really good time, and I said, ‘I want me some of that.’ And I got some.”
Ford previously made headlines for asking, “What is a Red Hulk?” when a Comicbook.com reporter asked about his potential role in the film.
Brave New World, in theaters Valentine’s Day 2025, will follow Mackie’s title character, who has since taken up the Captain America mantle post-Chris Evans, as he rebuilds the Avengers to combat an international threat.
