Dedeaux Properties and partner Basis Investment Group have acquired the land under Rialto Village for $12.8 million.

The property is home to an 83,272-square-foot warehouse recently completed at 1505 S. Willow Ave.

The Dedeaux -led joint venture in February 2023 entered into an initial ground-lease development with the seller, Newmark Merrill, to construct the facility with an option to buy the ground lease at a later date.

“This project further highlights our commitment to high-quality, strategically located logistics space in our target markets like Rialto and the entire Inland Empire,” Matt Evans, Dedeaux’s chief investment officer, said in a statement.

Rialto Village is a concrete tilt-up building with 32-foot clear ceiling heights, 17 dock-high doors, one grade-level door, a 125-foot secured truck court and 5,490 square feet of office space.

CatCon returns to Southern California

Attention, cat lovers, there’s a convention coming to a town (perhaps) near you.

CatCon is returning to the Pasadena Convention Center for a two-day “immersive experience” Aug. 3-4. The event blends pop and cat culture, luring cat enthusiasts like a tomcat on catnip.

More than 200 kittens will be looking for their forever homes at the Hill’s Pet Nutrition Adoption Village.

Participants can visit the Mad Catter’s Tea Room or enjoy a cat show in “Whisker Wonderland.”

Tickets start at $47.93 (adults) and $11.42 for kids. For more information and additional packages, go to eventbrite.com and search the term “catcon.”

IKEA bringing small-format store to Ontario

IKEA is expanding its order and pickup services to four Southern California cities later this year.

Rather than open large warehouse stores, the Scandanavian flat-pack retailer is crafting smaller hubs for either planning IKEA installations (think kitchens or bathrooms) or picking up online orders.

The company said Friday that new “plan” and “order pickup” locations are coming this fall to Ontario, Laguna Hills, Santa Monica and Thousand Oaks.

Thousand Oaks and Ontario are getting IKEA’s Plan and Order Points with Pick-up. That’s a lot of words that basically mean customers can plan, order, and pick up purchases made at IKEA design studios, in its stores or online. The locations in Santa Monica and Laguna Hills will be aimed at customers who need to simply pick up purchases made at IKEA.
