Blaze it: Glass blowing business one of many relishing 4/20 sales

EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene-Springfield area residents are getting ready to blaze up on 4/20, and local smokers are not the only ones getting high this year.

“420 is the busiest day of the year for us here in the cannabis industry,” Kayla Whitman, manager at Green Therapy dispensary, explains.

And Kathie Chapman, owner of Sweet Tooth Glassworks, has ordered plenty of bongs.

“Every year I find new glass blowers, every year I find something new and fantastic,” Chapman says.

Chapman and Kayla Whitman, Manager of Green Therapy dispensary, say they hope many customers stay in the pipeline.

“I’m really hoping for 110, 120,” Chapman says.

“As opposed to like maybe 70 to 100 in a day, maybe like 2 to 300, maybe even more, we’ll see,” Whitman explains.

And the business boom won’t go up in smoke after 4/20.

“I can count on customers all the way up until Mother’s Day,” Whitman continues.

And they’re taking extra steps to light up some fun with swag and deals to ensure the buds stick around their buds.

“So all the new customers that we get on 4/20 that are just checking us out for the day will become new regulars,” Whitman says.
