Man behind KC Scout chosen to lead transportation efforts for World Cup

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The man behind the KC Scout Traffic Management Center will now lead transportation efforts for the World Cup when it comes to Kansas City.

On Wednesday, July 31, Kansas City Area Transportation Authority announced Board Vice-Chair Jason Sims has been selected as Director of Transportation for the World Cup in Kansas City in 2026. With more than two decades of experience, he is an established and respected leader in traffic management operations.

KCATA noted that Sims has led the development of the Kansas City Scout Traffic Management Center, which has served the bi-state region since 2003. He was appointed to the Board of Commissioners in January 2022 to represent Wyandotte County. He will continue to serve in his vice-chair capacity as he leads the World Cup transportation efforts.

“It is truly an honor to serve in this role for KC2026, and I am looking forward to contributing to a world-class regional transportation experience for the World Cup,” Sims said.

The organization indicated that Sims earned a degree in Civil Engineering and an MBA from the University of Kansas. He has also been installed as the pastor of Mt. Caramel Church of God in Christ in 2019.
