Kelso 18U baseball team heading to Missouri for Babe Ruth World Series
KELSO, Wash. (KPTV) – Four baseball teams in the area are preparing for trips next week to the Babe Ruth World Series. FOX 12 is connecting with all of the teams, including the 18-and-under club from Kelso, Washington.
“It’s such a rare thing to be able to do so. It’s such a surreal feeling to just know you’re going to the World Series, when that set it in, it was sick,” said Noah Newton, senior at Battle Ground High School.

It’s indeed a “sick tight” summer for the Kelso Premier 18U Senior Babe Ruth All-Star team.
“Being able to just know that you’re going to go to the World Series, that’s everyone’s dream as a little kid,” said Kaemon Sawa, class of 2024 graduate from Ilwaco High School.
The reality of a baseball life rolls on for these varsity seniors and fresh graduates with a final stop at the Babe Ruth World Series in Cape Giradeau, Missouri.
“I got one more summer with the boys and we’re all making it count here,” said Caiden Schultz, class of 2024 graduate from Toledo High School. “We’re all moving off to college and we’re all moving on to that next chapter in life and trying to make it count for one last ride.”
The best of the bunch from southwest Washington captured the regional crown in Lander, Wyoming.
“It’s pretty sweet that the northwest is getting represented, not only nationwide but also internationally as well,” said Brett Martynowicz, class of 2024 graduate from Woodland High School. “It just kind of shows the talent that’s around the Pacific Northwest so it’s pretty sweet that we’re one of the age groups that gets to go represent that.”
True international competition awaits Kelso Premier at the World Series with teams from places like the Netherlands, the Dominican, Peru and Australia.
“It’s definitely not a local tournament like what you’d see, everybody is there for a reason,” Schultz said.

The reason being, the Kelso Premier boys are set to show out in the ‘Show-Me” state.
“It’s pretty cool that we meshed and put it all together and adapted with each other, and now we all get to really put it to the test out in Missouri in the middle of August in high humidity but it’s going to be fun,” Martynowicz said.
Hopefully this summer heat in the Pacific Northwest benefits the boys next week out in Missouri.
If you would like to help Kelso Premier on their trip to the Babe Ruth World Series, a GoFundMe has been set up here.
