High-end fashion headed for Greenville; Bal Harbour Pop Up Shop to arrive at Haywood Mall
Popular international luxury retailer Bal Harbour is set to open an “Access Pop-Up Shop” on the grounds of Haywood Mall in late summer or early fall.
The makeshift retail space is in the parking lot outside the JC Penney store. It comprises shipping containers and features a design reminiscent of South Florida.
The luxury brand pop-up shop is expected to remain open for eight weeks and could include high-end brands such as Golden Goose, Dolce & Gabbana, Balmain, James Perse, Addict, Assouline, Santa Maria Novella, and Tiffany & Co.

How did Bal Harbour Access Shops Pop Up arrive in Greenville?
In 2023, a similar style Bal Harbour Pop Up shop came to the Six Forks area in Raleigh, North Carolina, showcasing high-end shops and a restaurant concept. In Florida, both Sarasota and South Walton received the luxury brand showcase, most recently from May 24 to July 19.
This project is under the development and asset management of Matthew Lazenby, the current president and CEO of Whitman Family Development, LLC.
According to Mayor Knox White, Lazenby had a brief residency in Ashville, North Carolina, and grew fond of the nearby Greenville area. As opportunities for Bal Harbour arose in North Carolina and the Southeast, Lazenby’s familiarity with Greenville and connection to Simon (Haywood Mall) led to the idea of bringing a high-end shopping pop-up.
What are Bal Harbour Access Shops?
Known as an upscale mix of shopping stores, Bal Harbour Shops opened in 1965 in response to the rapid growth of shopping malls in the Southeast. Its brand was created to imitate the look and feel of South Florida and is an open-air shopping concept created by Stanley Whitman.
In 1971, Neiman Marcus became Bal Harbour’s first high-end retailer, and five years later, Saks Fifth Avenue joined.
The City of Greenville is expected to announce an official opening date at a later time.
